Our Story

In February of 1970 brothers, George and Norman Deforge, bought an old army base building in historic Fort Ethan Allen in Colchester Vermont. They did not know at the time they were starting a three generation family owned business. They did know, they wanted to establish a high quality retail furniture business that’s top priority was customer satisfaction. They not only achieved their goal, they were able to continue that dream for past 38 years.

DeForge Brothers grew bigger and bigger until finally it had to say goodbye to the fort in 2006 and moved south to Shelburne, Vermont on route 7. They have continued selling only furniture of the highest quality. Our main goal at DeForge Brother’s is to sell furniture that you can pass down from generation to generation. We pride ourselves on quality merchandise and outstanding customer service. George and Norman have officially retired, however, you may see them now and again making sure that their top standards are still being met. We consider all our employees part of our family.
